Sydney-based OneVentures announced last month that it has $40 million to invest, promising at least half that money to cleantech start-ups. OneVentures will focus on businesses developing niche smart-grid technologies for the efficient use and storage of energy, managing partner Michelle Deaker says. 
Conventional flame-retardants are being progressively banned around the world as concerns rise regarding the health implications of their use. Melbourne-based MHE Technologies says it has the local licence for a solution that is 100 per cent biodegradable and non-toxic to humans and animals. 
CBD Energy, with a restructuring behind it, is now busy building assets, with wind and solar energy developments on track. 
Without government incentives and policy frameworks to support the transition to a low-carbon economy, the cleantech sector will flounder.
